Bocas del Toro has 37.5% of protected territory. Ecosystem diversity is subject to scientific study and touristic attractions for those who visit us.

DIVING

Bocas del Toro is ranked No. 26 among the 85 best dive sites in the world. With a higher score than Punta Cana (Dominican Republic), Varadero (Cuba), Nassau (Bahamas), Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Isla Culebra (Puerto Rico) in the Caribbean or other world famous destinations such as Hawaii, Balearic Islands, Similan Islands (Thailand), Okinawa (Japan). Each year, scientists and professionals receive training and certifications in levels of "Scuba Diver", "Open Water Diver", "Master Scuba Diver" in the various academies established in Bocas del Toro. Dozens of agencies and operators, with extensive experience and PADI certification, provide basic courses, rent equipment and organize tours for amateurs with ages ranging from 12 to seniors.

SNORKELING

The Catalan journalist Maria Sierra created ranking of the 20 best places in the world for snorkeling and places Bocas del Toro at number 5. She says that Bocas del Toro, "Is a paradise for lovers of nature and the sea. The best places for snorkeling are in Almirante Bay, where coral reefs are more protected waters are crystal clear and there are no waves." The placid waters of the National Park are perfect to appreciate the coral reefs, remark by schools of colorful fish, shrimp, crabs, starfish and dancing dolphins. A Day Tour organized by specialized agencies within the National Park, includes equipment for snorkeling.

BOARDING SNORKEL

It is an innovative method consisting of holding hands with a transparent board while being pulled by a boat at a very slow speed. Just send your board in the desired direction, you can move on the surface or dive to a depth of 8 meters.

SURFING

Wave lovers have discovered Bocas del Toro as a new destination. Map of surf in Bocas del Toro identifies dozens of beaches, some with world-class waves. Most attractive for professionals, are in Carenero Island, Bluf Beach, Long Beach and Silver Bank on Colon Island and Bastimentos. Beginners can attend courses in Carenero, and then rent a board to make their first jumps in Old Man Beach, Wizard Tale Beach and Tiger Tale Beach on Colon Island.

PADDLEBORDING

The Paddlebording has become very popular with beginner surfers. Consists propel swimming movements using their arms while lying or kneeling on a surfboard larger than traditional. Stand up Paddle Surf is a variety of Paddeling in which a paddle is used to navigate in the water while standing on a surfboard.
